Managing Partner Trip!! Day 1/2

Thursday morning bright and early Ryan and I took off for Washington DC for the Managing Partner trip!!!  I was super excited, I haven't been there since right before my freshman year in high school and Ryan had never been.

Once we loaded we sat on the tarmac for almost two hours because of mechanical issues.
At least we had a beautiful sun rise to watch!

We finally arrived!!!

Got all checked in and changed for the the reception and dinner.
Not sure how I didn't get one picture of us.

When we got back to our room they had left some surprises!

They had the entire hotel all decorated for fall

Everywhere you looked there were pumpkins,  it was beautiful!

We signed up for a highlight tour.

Our first stop was The Abraham Lincoln Memorial where you could get an amazing view of The Washington Monument.

Our tour guide was incredible and so full of knowledge.
We were so glad that we choose to do the tour and not just sight see on our own.

On the back of Abraham Lincoln head is looks like a profile of another man but it is just ruffled hair.

The weather was perfect!

The spot where Martin Luther King gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech.

Next stop was the Vietnam Veterans Memorial

And the Korean War Veterans Memorials

There were some Korean War Vets there visiting the memorial at the same time.  It was super emotional to see them there and thank them for their service.

We made a quick stop to see the Capitol

Lunch time!!!

Union Market is basically like a food court on steroids!  There are about 20 different types of food/restaurants from all over the world inside plus a few "pop up" stores where you can buy ingredients/food/etc.

One of the many area to sit and eat.  There are tons of picnic tables outside as well.

I choose "ooey gooey crispy" grilled cheese but it tasted like french onion soup (it was delicious) and tomato soup.  Ryan had food from Takorean a Korean Taco Grill.

Our finally stop of the day was Arlington National Cemetery.

We had a private tour set up for our group and again the guide was just exceptional.
I remember this sight from years ago and still is just the same.  Rows and rows and headstones for as far as the eye can see.

We went to The Eternal Flame and John F. Kennedy grave site

Then we made our way to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

and we watched the Changing of the Guard

It was a SUPER long full day but so glad we got to do and see it all.

We had the evening free!!  Ryan made reservations at BLT Steak

The food was fabulous!!

Here are some clips from the day

That's a wrap of Day 1 and 2!
