Adventure day!

Even though we have lived in Austin for 10 years now, there are still some really cool things around town that we have never done.  So after some sand volleyball we were off to explore!

First stop was Hut's Hamburger, a locally owned hamburger stop that has been around for 80 years.
It is closing is doors in a few months so we had to try it out.

It is not a big place and it was crowded so we had to wait a bit for a table but it was worth it.

With full bellies we were off to the next stop.
When we were waiting for a table the scooters were laying around and the kids were dying to ride them so...
We all hopped on and took off!

It took us a bit longer than expected to go 4 miles on a scooter in downtown traffic but we made it (and all in one piece) to The Cathedral of Junk!
It is in the middle of a normal neighborhood except you can see it towering over the house in the back yard.

You have to make an appointment to see it with Vince the owner/builder/designer.  He started building it in 1988 and it has over 60 tons of junk!  It is made of of crutches, bikes, TVs, lawnmowers, wheels, kitchen utensils, computers, and anything and everything you could possibly think of.

It has three different levels, looks of different rooms, and tunnels.  There are three different sets of stairs to get to the levels.

Here is the "yellow" room

Literally every which way you turn and look there was STUFF!

It was really fascinating to explore!

That evening Taylor had some friends over and they made a pallet in the back of Ryan's truck.
