The Oaks-Kentucky Derby

This was a total last minute trip, like we didn't know we were going until Tuesday night!
But how can you say no to a bucket list trip!
You don't!

So we didn't.  Friday morning (bright and early at 5AM) we took off to Louisville, Kentucky!
I took this picture flying in.

Even the airport was decked out!  These massive planters lined every wall in the airport.
They were beautiful!

Greeted at receptiion with a Lily, the offical drink of The Oaks.

Our tickets and parking pass

A program and some macaroons to study up on your picks

We got check in, grabbed a snack in the lobby restaurant and changed clohtes.

The Oaks-  you are encouraged to wear pink to show support for breast and ovarian cancer.  With only a few days to shop and throw together two looks a pink purse was a good as I could do.  Ryan sported a pink mint julep tie and a green pocket square to accent.

The Baldwin's and us

They had this place gated off like the Whitehouse, no joke and the police presenses was crazy.  They were on foot, horses, atv's, cars and golf carts in packs!  You have to walk what seems like miles and miles (remember I am wearing heels which doesn't happen often) and miles!

Made it to our table and we had a great view of the track.  I could stand on the balcony the entire time and just people watch.  The outfits!  For both women and men were incredible!  I will say a majority of the people wear pink of some sort.

It is a big party down there!  Races ran about every 45 minutes.

When it was race time everyone would go outside and watch from the balcony.  It is crazy how loud it gets when the horses are headed to the finish line, the energy is insane!

After the races we grab some dinner

Waiting for our uber after a fabulous day!
